Coding a WordPress 3.0 Theme from Scratch

By Page Wood April 06, 2012

Earlier one of my classmates was asking me about creating his first WordPress theme from scratch. There are a lot of tutorials out there for free, but most of them are pre-WordPress 3.0. What’s the issue with this? Creating a theme for WordPress 3.0+ involves taking advantage of some of WordPress’ best features which aren’t included in earlier versions of WordPress: custom post type taxonomies, custom menus, and more.

Anywho, I found this article that deals with theming WordPress 3.0 and it’s MUCH better than some of the older, popular tutorials out there, such as the tutorial provided by Themeshaper. This tutorial from OneXtraPixel.com is simple, straight forward, and easy to complete for anyone who has a little bit of experience with WordPress sites and front end development. Now, go make something.

And of course, here’s the link: (the title of this post also links to the article)
