New Site in the Works

By Page Wood November 24, 2013

I have decided to completely rebuild my personal website from scratch!

Why? More like why not. Over the nearly 6 months I’ve spent most of my time working in the world of Software Applications for the web, which goes far beyond basic WordPress builds. The way I view the web and interactions within the realm of digital has evolved much with my recent work, and it’s time to show that in a fun way, with no boundaries.

The workflow for my new site has begun with the all important Pen and Paper and moved to Photoshop. I tend to do most of my design work either in the browser, or using Balsamiq these days, so this is a little out of the ordinary. Then again, many of my recent projects have had pre-set style guides and I’m typically working with bits of information and interactive requirements…. With my personal site, the canvas is blank.

I’m in the final stages of finishing up an overall “style” along with a few pages in Photoshop. Next, I’ll code everything out using a min-width, Mobile-First approach in HTML using the HTML5 Boilerplate as a starting point. I plan to use my normal tools, Sublime Text2, and Codekit to churn out all of the front end code. Once everything is the way I want it in HTML, CSS, and JS, into a custom WordPress theme it will go! At some point, I will set everything up on GitHub for safe measure and flexibility.

Stay tuned.
